Any male of a certain age is likely to become familiar with the pharmaceutical shorthand for 6,7-dimethoxy-2-[4-(tetrahydrofuran-2-ylcarbonyl)piperazin-1-yl]quinazolin-4-amine. Hytrin or Terrazosin. Prescribed to relax enlarged prostate glands and enable a sturdy flow of urine. Marketed under various names, Flomax is one, the water treatment facilities of senior facilities are replete with its metabolites. The name Flomax being virtually an onomatopaeia I wondered if there might be other generic names we could devise. Here is my draft list, I invite your suggestions.


…and so on. Perhaps if we gave our drugs more friendly and functional names we might feel better about having to take the wretched preparations.
