Easywiz and Others…

June 14, 2011

Any male of a certain age is likely to become familiar with the pharmaceutical shorthand for 6,7-dimethoxy-2-[4-(tetrahydrofuran-2-ylcarbonyl)piperazin-1-yl]quinazolin-4-amine. Hytrin or Terrazosin. Prescribed to relax enlarged prostate glands and enable a sturdy flow of urine. Marketed under various names, Flomax is one, the water treatment facilities of senior facilities are replete with its metabolites. The name Flomax being virtually an onomatopaeia I wondered if there might be other generic names we could devise. Here is my draft list, I invite your suggestions.

Easywiz
SlashMaster
Pizmax
FloodKing
Bladdermaster

…and so on. Perhaps if we gave our drugs more friendly and functional names we might feel better about having to take the wretched preparations.
